André de Beer

b. 1933

Andre de Beer loved art from an early age, and benefited from his parents’ encouragement. After school he completed an MA degree in Visual/Fine Arts, and a second degree in sculpture art.

After teaching for a short while Andre de Beer became a lecturer in 1962, and has done much to improve art education in South Africa.

He is known as an outstanding South African artist, and his work are renowned locally and abroad. He is skilled in a great many areas, his portrait studies, figure compositions, landscapes, still life, street studies and sketch work are all beautifully created using many forms of various graphic media. He is also known as one of the best caricaturists in South Africa.

There is great demand for his work, and he has had the opportunity to show works in exhibitions locally and abroad.
